Own a rare piece of Anchorage history. Originally built in 1947 as a log cabin, this home dates back to the early years of Anchorage's growth--a remarkable find in a city that remains relatively young by historic standards. Over time, the original cabin was placed on a permanent foundation and expanded, creating a unique home that blends historic character with everyday functionality. While much of the cabin's story has been lost to time, the original log construction remains as a lasting reminder of Anchorage's pioneering roots. Opportunities to own a property with this level of character and history are becoming increasingly rare. Significant recent improvements provide peace of mind for the next owner. The roof, fence, and refrigerator were replaced in 2025, while the retaining wall was completed in 2024. In 2026, the home received fresh interior paint along with exterior stain and seal. Beneath portions of the existing carpet, you'll find solid wood flooring with the potential to be restored and brought back to life. Conveniently located in East Anchorage, this home offers exceptional accessibility to daily amenities. Elementary and middle schools are within walking distance, the high school bus stop is just down the block, and grocery shopping is only a block away. Nearby parks, trails, and recreation opportunities provide plenty of ways to enjoy Alaska's outdoors, while quick access to JBER and major commuter routes makes traveling throughout Anchorage simple and convenient. Whether you're searching for a distinctive primary residence, a rental investment, or a property with a story to tell, this one-of-a-kind home offers the opportunity to own a special piece of Anchorage's past while enjoying the conveniences of today.

Location location location. Lake Hood Townhouse. As-is property. HOA Dues $683/month. $10K in foundation repair needed, $13K parking repair needed. No maintenance included in dues. 54 year old Roof leaks. Parking 54 years old. Swimming pool mold/broken since 2014. Carport floods. All outside doors need replacement. Fireplace face destroyed. HOA has no reserves or reserve study. Dues don't cover maintenance. Insurance increases of about 18% in 2024, and 40% for 2025-2026 of $1,595.67 per unit. Buyer to do all due diligence. As-is property. 2 Sept. 2026 update. Despite the Feb 2026 smack-down by the Alaska Supreme Court, the HOA (through its State Farm-provided attorney) on 1 Sep 2026 filed a "Renewed Motion for Attorneys' and Paralegals" Fees. The attorney now claims that HOA spent $168,819 (reduced from $182,000) defending against Seller's request that HOA maintain common areas -- a mere 7% reduction. Since the new judge (Judge Guidi retired) already indicated at a brief hearing back in March (where Seller was requesting return of his $88,401.08 in cash-in-lieu-of-appeal-bond which earns no interest) that she favored the HOA (despite knowing nothing about the case) and denied Seller's refund request, this matter, which is already in its 6th year since HOA started it by filing a bogus foreclosure action on 8 Jan 2021) will almost certainly be back up in the Alaska Supreme Court by sometime in 2028 or 2029 for another smack-down. 27 Feb. 2026 update. HOA legal actions update against owner: Ralph Guditz v. Lakeside North Condominium Home Owners Association, Nationstar Mortgage, and Bank of America | S19267 | Alaska | Judgment | Law | CaseMine. It is not clear to what extent HOA's insurer State Farm, which has been funding HOA's legal action against the unit owner through attorney Megan Sandone of Jermain Dunnigan & Owens, P.C., will continue, since legal fees costs judgement in now in favor of unit owner being found not responsible for HOA legal fees. It could go on for yet another 5 years. Development Services, while it claims to lack jurisdiction over HOAs (e.g. with regard to building code, permits, etc.) maintains that it will issue "clearing out" orders for all 12 units upon the collapse of a single unit's roof". Condemnation.
